Schüler von Danckerts und Hondius in Amsterdam. Lebte ab 1656 in Nürnberg und gehörte dort - besonders als Portätist - zu den beliebtesten Künstlern seiner Zeit. Gründete 1662 die Maler-Akademie zu Nürnberg.
