“Tabula Selenographica in qua Lunarium Macularum excacta Descriptio...“

Copper engraving of the moon, pictured in two hemispheres which are surrounded by illustrations of the moon phases. At the upper side, the title surrounded by two allegories. On the Left cherubs with a big telescope and on the right the goddess of the moon, Diana, sitting on clouds holding a shadow, in form of a mask, in her hand. Beneath the map, a text in four columns with explanations written in Latin.

Copper engraving with contemporary colour by Johann Baptist B. Homann und Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr after Johannes Hevelius (1611-1687) and Giovanni Riccioli (1558-1671).
