French Rococo Folding Fan

Beautiful fan with watercolour paintings on both sides in the style of Francois Boucher.

Front: Allegories for the goddess Fortuna. In a beautiful garden three cupids pulling a cart with two beauties in it. A third cupid flying above them with a torch in his hand. At the sides, two round cartouches with playing boys.

Back: Two playing boys at the side of a lake framed by floral bordures.

Leafe made of very fine vellum (canepin) with watercolour paintings on both sides. The fan´s skeleton is made of mother of pearl, beautifully carved and decorated with silver and gold. The rivet is decorated with a gemstone.

Span width: 50 cm

Date: France around 1770/90

Elegant folding fan with original leather etui of Maison Doree in Paris (tiny bit rubbed). The fan shows slight signs of usage, altogether in fine condition.
