Title: „Chorographia Bavariae. Ad illustriss. Et Sereniss. Principem ac Dominum. Domin. Albertum Comitem Palatinum Rheni Utriusque Bavariae Ducem. Do. Suum Clementiss.“

In the year 1579 Peter Weiner was hired by Duke Albrecht V of Bavaria to create a large copper engraving map of Bavaria after the design of the map made by Philipp Apian (1531-1589) which was published ten years prior.

Complete and bound set of all 24 copper engraving segments of the large map of Bavaria printed on 23 sheets by Peter Weiner (died 1583) after the design of the woodcut map of Bavaria by Philipp Apian. Binding, strong brown cartridge, c. 19 th. century.

Size: Horizontal-Folio, 37,5 cm x 50 cm (size of the whole map c. 156 x 159 cm)

Beautiful print on strong handmade paper, on five pages places of interest are highlighted in dark red (markings made by the previous owner), illustrated ex libris Auer on the front bookplate, very good condition, rare!
