Beautiful map with the “old world” , depicting Europe, the Mediterranean Sea, a part of Africa and a large part of Asia with twelve named wind heads surrounding the map in a bordure.
Cartographer: Laurent Fries (Metz - 1535), after a design by Martin Waldseemüller from Servetus, M: „Geographia“, Lyon 1541, verso - without text.
Print size: 30 cm x 46 cm
Very fine impression of this rare wood cut, at the upper right side missing part of the woodblock (in the bordure), typical horizontal center fold, altogether in perfect condition an excellent collectors copy.
