Beautiful large engraved map of Asia continent, printed on two sheets and joined. Sansons map of Africa redrawn on a larger scale by Jaillot with fine baroque title and scale cartouches. Published in “Atlas Nouveau” by Pierre Mortier, Amsterdam 1696-1708. Printed on heavy paper, beautiful contemporary hand colouring. Shows parts of eastern Europe, the peninsula of Arabia, part of the eastern coastline of Africa, the Asian continent with India - and the Pacific Ocean up to the coastline of Australia in the South and Russia and Mongolia in the north. The map of Asia is one of the most impressive from Jaillots series of publications.
