Valens Aqueduct (Bozdogan Kemeri).

Ancient aqueduct in the Istanbul districts Sarachane and Zeyrek which formerly supplied the city with water. The construction began under Emperor Constantine and was completed by Emperor Valens.

Copper engraving and etching by Duparc und Schroeder after a drawing by Antoine Ignace Melling (1763-1831), from "Voyage pittoresque de Constantinople et des rives du Bosphore", published by Treuttel and Würtz, Paris, Strasbourg & London 1819, 48,5 x 68,5 cm (plate size). 1st edition.
