Japan - Shunga painting
Nude courtly lovers sitting on their splendid robes of the Heian period. The woman is fanning with her uchiwa (flat fan), the man covers his nose with his hand.
Very fine painting in the ukiyo-e style of the Tosa province, with tender outlines and fine details skilfully painted on paper with ink, mineral colours, gofun and some gold. Mounted on on silver dotted paper. Some creases and folds due to its age, some tiny paper damages, just a few spots, otherwise good condition.
