Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) (1786-1865)

A young woman is scrubbing the corridor on her knees, watched by a young and an elder court lady. Prince Genji is looking onto the scene through a window in the wall, which is covered all over with Genji crests.

Excellent impression and very good, vivid colours, with well visible woodgrain and additional itame mokuhan (special woodgrain impression from a keyaki printing block) for the door to the right. Little trimming and old album backing, the sheets separate. Some very small spots, else excellent condition.
