Ohara Koson (1877-1945)
A monkey swinging from a thin bamboo stem, eyeing an insect flying underneath.
Publisher: Daikokuya, Tokyo
Date: c. 1910-20
Size: Vertical Ôtanzaku (Mitsugiriban), 34.7 x 19 cm (overall)
Excellent impression and colours. Margins trimmed. Paper only slightly age-toned. A little paper thinning in corners in verso, expertly restored.
One of Koson’s best monkey portraits, rarely seen.
