Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) (1786-1865)

Prince Genji (Mitsuuji) flirting from the stairs with a young princess sitting on the verandah of a palace. From behind a garden door an older woman is eavesdropping on them. The full moon is illuminating the wide courtyard with flowering cherry trees.

Excellent impression and colours. Unbacked, separate sheets. Lower margins with minor trimming, middle sheet minimally trimmed on the right. Left and middle sheets with unobtrusive waterstain, resp. light brownstain. Some soiling and rubbing in lower left corner of left sheet. Outer sheets each with a small restored paper loss in upper margin. However, overall very good condition.
