Kobayashi Kiyochika (1847-1915)
A scene from the first Sino-Japanese war (1894/95): Many Japanese and Chinese war ships (with the cruiser “Matsushima” in the center) during the peak of the fierce naval battle at the estuary of the Yalu River in the Yellow Sea.
Title: Okeru Kôkai ni wagagun no daishô – dai ni zu (Great Victory of our Forces at the Battle of the Yellow Sea - Second Illustration)
Seal: Kobayashi, Kiyochika
Publisher: Matsuki Heikichi, Tokio
Size: Oban-Triptych, 36,3 cm x 71,4 cm
Very fine impression of the print. The triptych is fitted together, not mounted. Margins on the sides and on the bottom slightly trimmed. Paper a bit tanned due to age, a few tiny holes. Altogether in very good condition. This triptych is one out of a group of four referring to this special naval battle made by Kiyochika.
