Takahashi Shôtei (Hiroaki) (1871-1945)

A river fisherman carrying a basket with his catch ashore in the evening. On the embankment a small Shintô shrine under two tall cedars, likely for a Suijin (or Mizugami), a water deity. Katsushika, the place of the title, today is a ward in the east of Tokyo.
