Utagawa Kunimasa II (1792-1857)

Minamoto no Yorimitsu (also known as Raikô) defeats the mighty demon Shuten-dôji at Mt. Oe. Yorimitsu’s loyal retainers, Watanabe no Tsuna, Hirai Yasumasa (middle), Sakata no Kintoki (aka Kintarô, right), Usui Sadamitsu and Urabe no Suetake (left) are fighting against Shuten-dôji’s Oni demon troops. Help comes also from the heavenly deity of the Sumiyoshi shrine who sends out rays against the monster.

Very nice impression, good colours. Printed with metal pigments (oxidized). Only slightly trimmed, retains old backing. Very nice condition of this rare triptych.
