Sasai Kôsô (Meiji-period, arround 1900)
An elegant Lady dressed in a garment of the Heian-Era standing in front of a Tsuitate-Screen, in her hands a fan with a Poem-Tanzaku on top. On her right side a kneeling lady with a lacquer box in her hands and on her left side ladys processing the tee ceremony. In the background two big ikebana flower arrangements with cherry blossoms.

Print and colours in perfect condition, with glossy overprint, relief printing and some metal pigments. In the very lightly coloured background, is slightly visible a décor of a Genji-Mon in the relief printing. Print not mounted and with full margins, the single sheets are not putted together. A small (print caused?) stain, and a bit wrinkly, altogether in perfect condition. Very beautiful and rare Triptych.
Sasai Kôsô, a pupil of Ogata Gekkô, is an barley known artist, aside from this woodblock print is a painting made by him in the museum of the Tokio University of the Arts (The University Art Museum, Tokio University of the Arts (Inv. Nr. 411)
