Utagawa Kunisada II (Toyokuni IV) (1823-1880)

A scene by night at the lake Biwa: The hero of the Story „The rural prince Genji“, Mitsuuji, standing in the middle with a bow in his hand, to his right the lady Karaginu with a torch and on the left kneeling her step daughter with a paddle in her hand.

Very fine print with brilliant colors, great Bokashi and metal pigments (oxidized). The wood grain is visible, single sheets with nearly full margins, not mounted und not put together. Some small print stains, at the lower right corner a small restoration. All together in perfect condition.

This Triptych is out of an early and very atmospheric Genji-Series by Kunisada II.
