Isoda Koryûsai (1735-1790)
A young woman secretly fiddling with the topknot of a young man, presumably her lover, who has fallen asleep over his books sitting at the kotatsu. Through the open sliding door in the background a garden with snow covered bamboo can be seen.
Signature: Koryûsai ga
Date: c. 1769
Size: Vertical Chuban, 24 x 17,9 cm
Excellent impression in very good colours, with relief printing. Red partially oxidized. A little trimmed, a few tiny, partly restored wormholes at right margin, lower left corner from verso a little bit thinner, only minimal soiling. Top verso small paper hinge remnants. Overall very nice condition
A rare and very charming image.
