Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892)
Sakurahime is haunted by the apparition of her dead lover Seigen, the runaway abbot of Kiyomizudera temple in Kyoto. The ghost is rising from the smoke of the hearth, while behind the window lattice snow is falling.

Excellent impression and colours, with gauffrage and metal pigment (oxidized). Unbacked. Paper at the woman's headdress somewhat brittle due to the richly applied metal pigment, and reinforced from verso; one tiny hole. Overall very nice condition.
